Enterprise SAN/NAS Storage
High speed and highly expandable high availability storage.
A high performance and highly reliable storage solution is critical to any cluster or cloud configuration. To assist our dedicated server and colocation customers in
building their scalable infrastructure, we are now offering a high-end Enterprise NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution. This
solution has been built with speed and reliability in mind, featuring redundant 10 Gigabit uplinks, redundant head-end management nodes, 1TB in SSD cache, and over 100 SATA
and SAS drives (Currently over 100TB of usable storage), features you cannot get out of a single dedicated or colocated system. Unlike many other providers, this is not a
homegrown solution, it is based on highly trusted NetApp equipment (used by organizations such as LexisNexis, Canon, Mazda, Thomson Reuters, Siemens, Oracle, NTT, and the US
Army) and has gone through extensive Enterprise-grade fail-over testing. We are confident in offering this storage solution with our 100%
Uptime SLA.
Not only does our Enterprise SAN/NAS Storage offer high speeds and reliability, but it also offers an extreme amount of flexibility. You can efficiently share a volume over a number of systems, which is critical for cloud (OnApp, Xen, VMWare, etc.) and cluster configurations and expand that volume as needed (Up to 16TB in most cases). We also give you even more flexibility, allowing you to keep your data on primarily SAS (15k RPM) or SATA (7.2k RPM) disks. The SAS drives are highly recommended for primary storage use, while the SATA disks can be used for less frequently accessed data such as archives or backups. These options allow you to save money by only paying for what you need, $25/month per 50GB of SAS storage or $15/month per 50GB of SATA storage. To order or upgrade, simply contact our Sales Department (312-602-2689 option 2 or sales@steadfast.net).

About SAN (iSCSI) Storage
iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN) storage provides block level, file system concerns stay on the client side, scalable data storage space to any number of servers over a network while making it appear as a locally attached drive. Traditionally SAN's require special cables to connect the devices together, but with iSCSI the same performance and scalability is achieved over our 1/10 Gigabit internal network. Since iSCSI is block level, it gives you a significant amount of flexibility. It will allow you to share the data across multiple systems (if using a network/cluster aware file system such as GFS), but it is most commonly used as a common storage volume among multiple systems through cloud and virtualization platforms such as OnApp, Citrix/Xen, or VMWare to allow live migrations.
About NAS (NFS) Storage
Network File System (NFS) Network Attached Storage (NAS) is a file level scalable data storage space to any number of servers over a network. For sharing files over multiple systems NFS/NAS is almost always the simplest solution as there is no concern about the user file system needing to be cluster aware. NFS/NAS storage is highly recommended for building your own cluster of servers or for our High Availability Cluster solution.
