LimeSurvey can be managed by users from a web-interface. Surveys have a standard design, but layout can be changed by modifying the template in a WYSWYG HTML editor. The editor interface also makes it extremely easy to import and export templates and questions so that you don’t have to rewrite the same thing for every survey. A rich text editor allows survey creators to use rich text when writing messages or questions, and it’s incredibly simple to integrate videos and images into the survey.

There aren’t any limits on the number of questions a survey can have. LimeSurvey organizes questions into groups, with a single “group” per page, and it’s possible for questions to be dependent (e.g. question 8 may only be applicable if a respondent answers “yes” on question 7). Questions can also come in a variety of types and styles, such as yes/no, multiple choice, slider input, numerical input, text input, and as drop-down lists.

After a survey is complete, the user merely has to activate it for respondents to be able to read and answer. A single user has the ability to create unlimited surveys, and send them out to as many people as he or she wants.

Besides these basic features, LimeSurvey also offers “advanced” and “international” functionality for advanced users such as:

the ability to process and analyze survey data using statistical and graphical information
the ability to control access to surveys by either making them publicly accessible or by using “once-only” tokens to limit participants

System Requirements for LimeSurvey Cloud Hosting

LimeSurvey requires servers to have: 80 MB disk space (minimum)
MySQL 4.1.0+ or Microsoft SQL Server 2000+ or Postgres 8.1+
PHP 5.1.2+ with – mbstring, MySQL5 or pgsql PHP library
Use XAMPP to try LimeSurvey on your local machine. It’s easy to install, and includes a complete web server with Perl, PHP, MySQL, and Apache – you won’t need to configure LimeSurvey at all!
