Continuous Data Protection

Idera's Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Solution is a server software application that enables disk-based data protection and disaster recovery for Linux and Windows servers and workstations ($10/mo per device). CDP Server protects disk volume data using synchronization over the network storing point-in-time snapshots in disk-based storage. Idera's Continuous Data Protection solution is a near-Continuous Backups system capable of providing hundreds of recovery points per day scheduled as little as 5 or 10 minutes apart. This protection is available for all of the applications and data on your servers and workstations, including MySQL and Microsoft SQL (MSSQL 2005, 2008, and 2012) databases.

CDP Server works by reading your hard disk volumes at the sector level, bypassing the file system for the ultimate in performance and recovery. This disk sector synchronization is performed while the server is online and provides no interruption to other I/O requests even on a busy server. By reading the disk at the lowest possible level point-in-time recovery images contain your files and all the formatting, partition tables, and volume configuration needed for complete and instant disaster recovery.

The easiest way to backup your servers is using Idera's CDP software on your Windows or Linux based system. Otherwise, you can use rsync. Rsync allows you to upload only the files which have been updated since your last update which can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to backup your data. You can find a tutorial on using rsync here. You are not restricted to using rsync as you can use our service to backup databases, cPanel accounts, Interworx accounts, your home computer, and much more.

We can provide customized rsync solutions for many server configurations, including scheduled rotating backups and our support staff will be happy to assist you with such configurations.
