Debian Cloud Hosting
Quick, Simple, and Scalable Debian Cloud Hosting
Why Should I Choose Debian Cloud Hosting or a Debian Dedicated Server?
When you get Debian cloud hosting or a Debian dedicated server from Steadfast Networks, you’re getting a Linux operating system with robust package management. In fact, Debian GNU/Linux is widely recognized as one of the most flexible and stable operating systems on the market.
Built from a Linux kernel using OS tools from the GNU project, Debian's developers abide by a Social Contract that values transparency and the principles of software freedom. But Debian's main advantage comes from the over 29,000 precompiled software packages it offers to users. These packages give you full control over the operating system, ensuring that you can customize it to fit your exact specifications. Most of the offered packages are completely free, and Debian separates out any that either require payment due to restrictive licensing or depend on paid software. For a complete directory of available packages, check out this page.
Debian is also known for its incredible stability, and boasts one of the smallest footprints of any operating system when it comes to storage and memory. Plus, Debian's extensive community of developers are constantly testing and fine-tuning the code, working to ensure that future upgrades are as seamless as possible.
Steadfast Networks offers both Debian 5.0 and Debian 6.0 for both 32-bit and 64-bit processors. In addition, the newer version (6.0) currently supports the following 11 computer architectures:
- 32-bit PC (i386)
- 64-bit PC (amd64)
- EABI ARM
- PowerPC
- SPARC
- Intel Itanium IA-64
- MIPS (little endian)
- kFreeBSD 64-bit PC (amd64)
- kFreeBSD 32-bit PC (i386)
- IBM S/390
- MIPS (big endian)
If you're looking for an operating system that's flexible, reliable, and offers a huge library of free software packages, consider Debian cloud hosting or a Debian Dedicated Server.

Debian Technical Requirements
Debian is compatible with any computer architecture or platform that supports the Linux or FreeBSD kernel, and on which this kernel has been ported and a Debian port exists. Check out Debian's Ports page for more information.
In terms of disk space and memory, Debian recommends your virtual machine or dedicated server have at least 512MB RAM and 5GB hard drive space for a 32-bit or 64-bit processor with desktop. Other than that, Debian has very few requirements and will be fully compatible with almost all hardware on the market. See the Installation Guide for complete details about supported hardware.
