Default Getting SHTML #include to work

My #include statements within my SHTML pages are not working -- they're not getting included. When I do a view source on the pages, I see the #include statements, but not the files themselves. The exact same pages have worked on other sites. Is there some setting or option I need to choose in order to get them to work? Thanks for any guidance any one can offer.

If you are using one of our Litespeed servers, it currently does not have support for Side Server Includes.

An alternative would be to use PHP includes, which performs the same functionality.

Default Need a Work Around for LiteSpeed's SSI Limitation

Thanks for that information, but it's really not what I wanted to hear. LiteSpeed doesn't handle server side includes? How lame. I don't want to go with PHP, I want to use html (or shtml) pages which I eventually want to turn into jsp pages.

Are there any instructions on how to set up Glassfish or Apache to work with LiteSpeed?

Litespeed essentially replaces Apache as the primary web server as it offers significantly better performance in delivering content for your viewers on our servers.

I would talk with support (open a support ticket) and see if one of our servers have LiteSpeed 4.0RC1 installed as that does support SSI.

Alternatively, see if we have an Apache server and request your account be transferred to that server.

You're not going to be able to convert to JSP pages via our shared hosting because we do not support JSP (and do not currently have any plans to do so). Lack of SSI is a limitation of LiteSpeed currently, but will be included in the next major release. I personally love using SSI rather than PHP for simple site configurations and I will be looking forward to its implementation myself.

This was a trade-off we were willing to make, because SSI is used by less than 1% of our customers and we retained an Apache server to accommodate those people. We can transfer your account to that Apache web server if you like, though the software environment is slightly older and we cannot guarantee the same level of service.

If you want to have the account moved, please send us a support ticket and we'll be happy to help you out.

    Wink Requesting Switch of Servers

Thank you very much for your assistance -- I didn't realize that it was that switching servers was available (and that there were different servers with different web servers available).

    Thanks for being so responsive,
Tom (I knew there was a reason why people liked Steadfast)

A general update to those reading this thread.

Litespeed 4.0 gold has been officially released and SSI support is now available to those using our Litespeed v4 powered servers.

For those reading, we will support SSI on all servers within the next two weeks. We will be deploying a new web server today or tomorrow which will include the LiteSpeed 4.0 web server, so those wishing to have SSI support may request to be moved to web6 once it's up and all new accounts will go to that server.
