Default Inquiry About Reseller Accounts and Admin Panel

    Hi,

I have been looking to get away from the sub-par hosting account I have with GoDaddy and I was very impressed with some of the reviews I read for your service. I have several small sites I would like to consolidate into one account and I am considering purchasing one of your reseller plans. I had just a few questions first.

    - At the moment I would only require a starter account but would likely want to expand to a larger capacity in the future. Is the upgrade process fairly simple?

    - If one hosted client site were to receive a large amount of traffic (enough to degrade performance) would all sites hosted with reseller account also be affected?

    - Lastly, one of the biggest issues I had with GoDaddy was their horrible custom admin panel. They were ALWAYS trying to sell you something. Do you by any chance offer a preview (screenshots or test account) of your admin?

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve Morton

You can upgrade directly from the control panel at any time. The upgrade is done with no extra/hidden charges and will not cause any downtime.

We automatically put each new account, including accounts inside a reseller account, on the least loaded server, thus each of your accounts may be on different physical servers. If we are ever forced to suspend an account for abuse or excessive resource usage, causing poor performance or downtime for other customers, only the specific account causing the issue would be affected, not the entire reseller account.

Yes, you can login to our control panel from any page of our primary web site, at the top right, using the username "demouser" and the password "password."

Thanks so much for the quick response Karl! I will most likely be purchasing the plan sometime this week.

Shiny! How do you choose IP addresses? Or, more specifically, can the customer indicate preferred /C block(s)? I'm mainly concerned about being on the same block with new domains (e.g. snowshoers, which you've had issues with).

Karl, are there any differences between the Reseller cp, and the non-Reseller shared-hosting cp?

The IP you'd be assigned would be the shared IP of the server unless you pick a dedicated IP, and then you'd be assigned the dedicated IP at random. THere is no way to prefer specific domains, etc.

Yes, the reseller panel itself is different, but the panel for each user under the reseller is just like the standard panel. The reseller account is where you'd setup the plans, manage billing for the individual accounts, etc. You can see that through the standard H-Sphere demo here: http://www.psoft.net/h_sphere_demo_page.html

    I'm confused by that.

By "shared IP" do you mean for shared plans, or does that also apply to reseller plans?

I'm mainly interested in one of your reseller plans, all of which appear to come with 2 dedicated IPs. I'm used to that meaning the same dedicated IP would be used for email (in addition to other uses).

From what I've read, many control panels with multi-IP support let you assign each domain to any one of the available IPs. Is that not so with H-Sphere?
