This is why I tell people to ALWAYS keep backups SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN STEADFAST OR ANY OTHER PROVIDER IN 350 CERMAK CHICAGO since that is where my primary data is stored.
I try to keep a copy of my data on my HDD and some on Amazon S3 (S3 stores it in multiple datacenters, or at least not in 350 Cermak where Steadfast is) incase something really bad happens to Steadfast's datacenter.
ALWAYS keep a backup elsewhere.
And if you are hosted somewhere outside of Steadfast, look into Steadfast's backup service. It is reasonably priced (competitive with S3) and you can use rsync with it. It wouldn't keep your services up if you were hosted at TP, but at least you would know your data is safe somewhere.

Off Site Backup
Hmmm ...
That raises an interesting question: since Steadfast advertises their service as an offsite backup, I would assume that it is backed up somewhere other than their data center in Chicago.
Does anybody know that for sure?

Actually the "off-site" backup reference is for customers that pay for the backup separately from any other packages with us, as we can be off-site from their datacenter. Our current backup systems are local, but we are looking into offering true off-site backup features for our own customers down the road.
If you are looking for a true off-site backup outside of Steadfast, there are a number of options for that right now.
