    Default The New IPs!

I noticed on Kevin's blog that ARIN finally gave SteadFast more IP addresses! Congratulations!

He also says that you'll have to migrate everyone in the old IP block to the new block. Do you guys have a range of dates set for this yet? Will it be seamless and automatic, or will us VPS customers have to re-distribute the new IP's you give us amongst our domains?

We haven't set dates for the migration yet. We've migrated shared hosting servers already, but the remainder of the IP migration will be announced as soon as we finish necessary preparations and planning. We'll give everyone no less than 4 weeks to complete the changeover.

It will not be seamless for VPS customers, unfortunately, as there is no way for us to switch your IPs and update nameservers and other VPS configuration files automatically. We will probably be issuing new IPs to the VPS and then providing any support necessary for customers to transfer their domains and nameservers to the new IPs in their control panels. Once the old IPs are freed up, we'll remove them from the VPS. That's about the smoothest transition possible, I think.

How'd you find my blog, by the way? :-)

I don't remember why I was searching (I'm a little booze tipsy at the moment; my backspace key is receiving more use than usual...), but I hit Google up for "Kevin Stange". SimGuy.net pops up el numero uno.

Google is very useful for that. A search for "Keith Constable" brings you straight to my page. I don't have a blog--it'd be neglected if I did.

I know I'm up top on the Google search. Wasn't sure if I'd dropped my URL somewhere else though.

I know of other people named Kevin Stange with their names showing up on the Internet, but I'm the only one who put it there on purpose.
