    Unhappy diappointed

For the last few months my site has had moments of lag where it take minutes to load and sometimes it does not load at all. I have contacted support many times about this and there is never a resolution. I get "it's working fine now, we are investigating the problem", then it never gets resolved.

I am in the process of moving to another host. I really do not want to but I need my site to be up and available.

I have even asked if I should upgrade to a vps and the reply I got was "I do not know if that will work better for you".

Before the last few months site load times were excellent and uptime was great. I guess I am on an oversold server.

If it's the page http://monadfm.com it loads just fine. I have had users on another site describing the exact same problem as you and it has to do with the connection from them to steadfast (and indeed a couple of other hosts in chicago / the same datacenter(?)).

I can say with 99% certainty that most of your clients are able to view your site without any problems whatsoever.

If you disable your local firewall and try to access your site, is your pageload any faster?

What does a traceroute from you to your site say?

The issue lately had been with our MySQL server and the offending account has been removed. It was a single database using over 8GB of RAM, which then forced most things into swap which created a huge bottleneck.

As for the web servers, the load is almost always in acceptable levels on all of he servers, but with it being a shared environment you're going to see some glitches here and there just because of the sheer number of sites. If just one of them gets on digg, slashdot, or similar that can definitely affect the whole system, that is just how it works. The only way around that is going with dedicated resources, which a VPS would offer you. The line stated was correct though "I do not know if that will work better for you" as if you don't purchase enough resources on the VPS it will still run slow, it isn't a guaranteed solution.

As a note, we are looking into upgrades for the database server and are planning to have a new web server commissioned shortly, allowing us to spread out the load a little more and to give us room for our increasing customer base.

Also, this could be completely network related, and there it is more likely to be on your end than ours. I believe a traceroute had been requested by our support staff and that does not seem to have ever been provided.

Yes, loads fine now that I moved to another host. Was never my firewall or connections as I could always connect to other sites in your network. It was an overloaded server at steadfast.

You may want to keep an eye on that so you do not loose other clients in the future.
