Default CentOS or Debian for Virtual Private Server plan

I am looking for some input as to which would be the better choice, if there is one, between the 2 different types of a Virtual Private Server that you can sign up for on this site.

Probably the most significant difference for you if you plan to run with a control panel is that you will need to choose CentOS if you intend to run cPanel or InterWorx. Debian supports only Plesk.

Other than that, the software packaging system and overall design philosophy are quite a bit different, but both are modern Linux distributions and should provide all the same "stuff."

As Josh suggests, if you are more familiar with a Red Hat or Fedora Linux release, you may be more comfortable working with CentOS. If you've used Debian or Ubuntu before, Debian will most likely be better for you. If you don't have a preference, we usually suggest CentOS 4, as that is what we've standardized around and deal with most often.

alright, thanks for the information, I will be going with CentOS as you suggest, since I do not have any real preference at all in this.

now to just wait for money to get added to my accounts credit and it'll be online

Good choice, CentOS is far better to fiddle with than Debian, imho. (Edit: better ~ easier, and Cent OS is stable/secure enough, as far as I know)
