    Default Network Issues

Lately, I have been seeing alot of problems that have been rising from your network lots of ping spikes from 30 pings up to 150 ms and above. This is a problem for the gaming services that you guys host. this is starting to get annoying and many of my clients are beginning to complain and leave our company for this reason.

have you reported this to Support (support@steadfastnetworks.com) or the Noetwork Operations group (noc@steadfastnetworks.com) ?

There are a lot of things that could cause ping issues, an improperly setup NIC, a loaded machine, a congested connection at some point, an issue with your ISP, etc. if you contact support or the Network operations group with specifics about your issue they should be able to help you. There is no reason that you should be experiencing network issues at this time as there have been no network changes or major events that would affect network performance.

I have machines in 7 different states, with 2 different locations in Chicago, I am aware of the difference between a loaded machine or a bad nic card settings, when I ping over 100 ms to your core routers from the locations I have in Chicago that ping 5 ms and under up to your core router then the ping spikes to 150 + this typically means that there is a problem with the network rather than a messed up network card or overloaded machine.

If you are having those issues please send traceroutes to the email addresses I gave above and we will gladly look into it. Unless you tell us and provide some information about the issues there is really very little we can do about it. There should be no reason for such spikes and I am not seeing any other reports showing such issues.

We did have some brief network issues on Thursday, which were resolved promptly and have since been resolved, which is, I believe, what Brandon is refering to, as it seems your graphs all look normal again and have for the past several days.

As a note, traceroutes are always useful. Ryan, do you have an open ticket with traceroutes that would allow us to look further into the issue/s you were experiencing?

    Karl,

    Ticket ID: XMS-11580

I have trace routes in there. and the network has starting acting up as I have been writting this reply, I dont know if its your ATT link or if it is something else, but i dont get affected as much as most of the poeple that we are hosting do. I am from Nova Scotia Canada, so I have a differnt route than most of the people from the US would.

The one you posted via AT&T was during a DDoS that was congesting the AT&T line, an issue which only lasted for several minutes. If you do notice issues recurring though feel free to send in more traces and we'll gladly take a look at it.
