Default Help with FTP and Wordpress please

Hello. I am trying to install Wordpress. I have created a MySQL database and have created a user for that database. When I try to upload the Wordpress files via Filezilla using the details mysql.nozonenet.com and the port number, it fails to connect.

Is this the right way to do this or do I have to do it via the file management and add things to the root folder somehow? I’m lost

    Any help would be appreciated

P.S My domain isn’t up yet, would this be the problem? Also, is there anyway to preview my site before it goes live?

Yes, your domain not being up yet is a problem. If you are trying to FTP into ftp.yourdomain.com, and it is not connected to your hosting yet, it will not work.

You could probably add files through file management somehow, but it isn't very practical for WordPress considering the number of files involved.

I think you will have to until you can access it via FTP, once the DNS is propagated, and you can see something through HTTP, you should be able to FTP in as well.

You would have some options with a VPS or higher I'm not sure if you can access it any other way with shared hosting. Read the emails that Steadfast sent you carefully, if there is another way to access it, there should be a link or info in those emails.

Good to see another WordPress user, it has been making my life way easier, especially with all of the new changes in 2.5/2.6!

Thought i may as well ask here instead of starting a new thread.

I have installed WordPress and all is going swimmingly. In WordPress there is an option to post via e-mail and to set this up you have to set the Mail Server and the port. I have set the Mail Server to mail.steadfast.net/horde/imp/ and left the port at default port 110.

I set the email address as a one i made on my website account.

Whenever an email is sent to that address, WordPress is supposed to post it on my site, however it has not done this. I'm not sure what i have configured wrong so if anybody can help me that would wonderful

Thanks for the reply ManagerJosh, but I haven't managed to do it with this either. I've tried mail.nozonenet.com too and also tried a google e-mail address with mail.google.com but haven't had any results.

I'll ask around and see if anybody knows what's up and post back if i find an answer.

    Thanks.

Update: I've got it sorted now, check out the link if you're having the same problem http://wordpress.org/support/topic/169488?replies=1
