    Default System Status??

There used to be a "system status" page where one could look
for information about current outages. It seems to have disappeared,
or at least the "news" blog isn't being used.

I'm sure the time saved answering redundant phone calls and
emergency support requests would be a lot more than maintaining
such a page in a timely manner.

(posted during the second outage for my site today)

yeah, that would stop probably a flood of emails when a small part of the users sites are offline.
I am gussing the origional poster is using a VPS system, since that is what is offline for me, which is kinda annoying since its a site that has a purpose of being hotlinked in mass amounts of places relying on it to load files.

so im sure a 'live' outages page would be easier then replying to a ton of support tickets, but thats just my opionion

I can not complain though,I have only seen the sites offline for any time period twice in what will be 3 years this September. first being last christmas eve (or day before i forget) and today.

overall the service is great, but a live 'outage' page would be a good idea

My site is offline at the moment. I think the problem is affecting all the sites on the server, because I did a quick search and all the sites I checked were offline too. A system status page would be really helpful

It certainly would be nice to know what's going on; my VPS has been offline for several hours. The terse responses from tech support about the problem are no help.

No doubt they're feeling stressed for both technical reasons
and dealing with alarmed customers. All the more reason to
publish a quick summary and avoid all that stressful human
    interaction.

Usually announcements are posted at the helpdesk under Announcements and Maintenance. Either that or a yellow box appears on the home page with some details as to what is going on. A separate announcements page might be a bit overkill.

I apologize. I was the one working on the VPS server that had failed, and I had forgotten to post the normal announcement we would have posted. I shall endeavor not to forget in the future.

Hopefully that server shouldn't have any further hard drive issues anytime soon now that the faulty drive has been removed from the server and replaced.
