    Default Whois privacy

I'm not very comfortable with my name and home address being readily available to anybody who does a whois of my site. Are there any privacy protections? Leaving up an e-mail is fine.

There are number of things to consider. You could buy WHOIS Privacy Protection through your registrar, but you have to pay that annual fee which could make it pricey.

Some registrars like the ones here at Steadfast offer it for free I believe.

    Exclamation Private Whois - $2/year

My current registrar has been offering free Private Whois, but suddenly just disabled it for all clients and removed Whois Privacy from the list of offered services.

So it seems that sometimes free Whois Privacy isn't so reliable as we'd like it to be. Now I'm moving to another major registrar - Moniker.

They're offering Domain Privacy for just $2/year and their domain registration prices are very good.

If my domain was registered through Steadfast, then how should I go about making my info private on whois?

    Goto http://domains.steadfast.net

Click the domain you want to modify, and select domain registration. From there select WHOIS privacy. Enable it

Note, if you have a lock on the domain, you need to click lock/unlock prior to accessing WHOIS Privacy.

Thanks for the followup ManagerJosh. So, have I muddled this up enough?

When I go to that URL, I don't see where to click the domain I want to modify... instead it appears to be where I can register for a new domain or search whois.

I tried to login on this page using my Steadfast account info but it was not recognized. Then I created a new account but there was no record of any domain orders.

FYI, I did add my new domains through my Steadfast account several weeks ago (the Add New Domain option). Does that make a difference?

    Thanks again.

If you registered the domain through the shared hosting system there are no domain privacy features, but we are willing to act as an administrative contact for your domain, so you can enter our mailing address in place of your own if you like, but you should still use a personal email account so you can make adjustments and transfers yourself.
