Hello, I've been referred here from a forum and am interested in the shared Starter Plan. I have a few questions:

Will the domain name be registered under Steadfast, or the user him/herself? Can the user transfer the domain to a different registrar before it expires?

What is your policy regarding privacy? Do you manually check large mail() queues for spam or is this process automated? Do you ever view or edit a client's files to resolve an issue for them, without giving them the option beforehand?

What would happen in these use cases?

> Somebody send me an e-mail attachment of size 101MB, which exceeds my disk quota.

> An unforseen traffic surge occurs running me up and over my monthly bandwidth allotment. This could not have been predicted and I'm asleep when it occurs. How will this affect both my website(s) and e-mail account(s)?

Thanks for your time!

The domain would be registered under the user's name and you can certainly transfer the domain before it expires.

What specifically is your question regarding privacy? The topic of privacy can cover so many individual facets, I can't really address it as a whole without some specifics.

Yes, we regularly monitor the mail queues and do have some automated systems in place to look for large quantities of mail going into the system, etc.

Yes, there are cases where we'll modify code, etc. without first contacting the user if it is negatively affecting overall performance or security, meaning it would need to be negatively other users or individuals. In that case though, the code would either be commented out or moved/relocated. Generally, that is a better option than suspending the site as a whole, and notice of such action would be sent nearly immediately.

If someone sends you an email that exceeds the quota on your email account the email would be rejected. You can set your mailbox quota to whatever you would like, so you can control your risks for overages, etc.

Sites are not taken down unless they reach 200% of their traffic limit, and additional bandwidth can be purchased at any time. That limit is set to reduce the user's risk of massive overages while still allowing the site to stay up and operational.
