Hi there
I'm a new Steadfast customer and will at some point be bringing our company mailing list over here. The mailing list in question has a little under 2000 subscribers and approximately four posts per month. The reason for this post is to outline some of the things we do to make sure the people on our mailing list actually want to receive our mail.
We obtain email addresses in the following ways:
By asking customers if they wish to subscribe when placing an order over the phone.
Flyers included with invoices, receipts, etc, sent by postal mail.
Subscriptions via our website.
All subscriptions require the subscriber to respond to a confirmation email, even in the cases where a staff member is adding a new subscription.
We do NOT under any circumstances use purchased email lists or sell/trade our list.
Unsubscribes are handled automatically by a one-step process or by staff if a subscriber makes a request by phone.
The subscriber's email address is included in each mail that is sent so that the subscriber does not inadvertently attempt to unsubscribe the wrong address.
We use automatic bounce processing in case an email address is no longer accessible.
We log all activity to the list including posts, bounces, invites, confirmations, etc. In the case of actions by a subscriber such as a confirmation, the subscriber's IP is logged.
We use a throttling script that sends 50 messages every five minutes, or 600 messages per hour. (This is configurable if necessary.)
I am proud to say that we have never had a spam complaint! :D
This is everything that I can think of off the top of my head. I wanted to run this by the powers-that-be to make sure that this would be acceptable on our account here. If there's anything that is missing that we should be doing, I'd welcome feedback.
Thanks!
