View Full Version : Message delivery delays?

Anyone else experience significant delays in their email being delivered to the recipient? I'm on shared hosting, and recently it's been taking up to 8 hours to deliver simple text (email) messages. This has become an issue, as a few of my recent messages have been time sensitive.

How do I know? The email header timestamps the submission to mail.nozonenet.com, then timestamps the header again when it is passed to the receiving email server.

Are you using Steadfast's outgoing mail server? Is your ISP blocking it? Some ISPs block/manipulate external mail servers to prevent spam coming from inside their network.

Yes, mail.nozonenet.com:465.

No, my ISP is not blocking it. It's a delay, not a bounce. And it's only occurring on some email, not all. One day an email to Person A will go through fine. The next day another email to Person A will take up to 8 hours to go through.

Did you submit a ticket to support about it?

I haven't had this issue. So...

Not yet. I will if it continues, but I was checking to see if anyone else was experiencing the same and had already contacted Steadfast.

Thanks for the reply.

Does this happen to every destination?
I'm not using SF's mail server. I see 1-2 hours delivery delay from time to time. e.g. hotmail's MX receives email from my server at 00.00 and it shows up on recipient mailbox on 01.54.

I cannot say whether it happens to every destination. It's been most notable delivering email to Cox's hosting mail server. And to pre-empt a reply, yes, I've contacted Cox regarding this same issue. Of course, their response will always be "not our problem".

The reason I brought it up here is if it was a problem of Steadfast email servers being rejected by Cox (or perhaps graylisted), it may be affecting other people hosted here.

OK, I've narrowed this down for anyone interested. Sending an email to a distribution list of ~30 email addresses (company employees) that are all on a single domain hosted by Cox Business services results in the email being delayed by several hours to the majority of the recipients.

I assume this is because Cox servers are only allowing a set number of recipients per message. This is odd because I can send a single email message to any one of the recipients immediately following the distribution list email and the single email will be delivered instantly.
