Hey.

I'm trying to connect to my yahoo and hotmail accounts using Thunderbird.
I have the webmail add-on and the add-ons for yahoo mail and hotmail and YPOPS.

I am trying using the webmail function cuz YPOPS didn't really work for me.
At first I managed to download my Yahoo inbox but that's about as far as I got.
It's constantly saying that "Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server localhost responded: /undefined/yahoo.ca/hotmail.com/ is a unsupported domain".
As you can see, I've tried to solve the "/undefined/" with "/yahoo.ca/hotmail.com/" like the Thunderbird troubleshooting on their website suggested, but nothing really works.
I tried to recreate the accounts several times and I've tried to disable the 'optional' add-ons for hotmail and yahoo-mail, and leave only Web-Mail, but that drew up a blank too...

What am I doing wrong? Any ideas welcome.

Contact me however.

Hotmail does not have POP/SMTP. You use to be able to connect via Outlook for free if you bought it, but it's been since discontinued.

Yahoo does have POP/SMTP, but at a price.

You aren't doing anything wrong. It's just limitations placed on their end of things.

Did you try one of these webmail plugins for Thunderbird?

I understand what you're saying, but it's still not making sense. I had my entire mailbox from yahoo downloaded to Thunderbird, so it must be possible, at least with yahoo if not hotmail.
I'm going to try reinstalling Thunderbird and doing the whole thing over in case I screwed someting up when I first tried it, and I'll post it if the issue is resolved. In the meantime, if anyone thinks of anything, please let me know.

Sorry, but I couldn't find the plugins you mentioned.

The plugin for webmail in thunderbird is here:
webmail.mozdev.org

Apparantly Yahoo has a paid service as well to access yahoo mail via POP3, and there's a free YPOPs email gateway that also allows you to access your yahoo email via POP3 (google it since I can't do links yet, besides I've never used either of these two services).

I'd skip using Yahoo! Mail and use Gmail if you really have to use one of these free email-services. With Gmail you get free pop3(s). No IMAP though, which kinda sucks...

I do plan to get Gmail, but I've already had Yahoo and Hotmail for several years, so it would be a lot easier for me if I can figure out a way to access them through something like Thunderbird than moving everything over from my other accounts. Plus I still plan to use both Yahoo and (especially) my MSN for instant messaging so I'm basically forced to keep Hotmail, if not necessarily Yahoo.
