Did you try to install it? The demo looks promising, I'm also glad they added a SFTP-option for the backups, hopefully this also apply for the command-line backup-script.

I didn't dig too much into the demo though, but I didn't see some easy .htaccess-functionality, aka; for siteworx users to be able to add hotlink protection etc in an easy way. You found that, Justin?

Cheers!

Yes, I am running this on my server now and have no problems. Im running CentOS 4.4.

Im sure the SFTP option will be the same for command line or through the panel. Interworx is very flexible and a lot of what can be done with the panel can be done manually or provided scripts. Basically what Im saying is the panel probably just runs that command line for you so it should be the same.

Yes, 3.0 has .htaccess for SiteWorx.

So ... can anyone actually tell me what are the great things that come with this release ,compared to the old version ?:P

Yes, though is there an easy hotlink protection added for users who wants to implement that function through "a click of a button"?

A major new functionality is that a user now can have several domains under one siteworx account, which 2.1.x did not have.

Thank you! That post just made my day :D! That's what I told the team here today but Ray told me "they got the ssh reboot function and some other things"....and well being a DA fan I smirked happily (knowing DA has had those functions for a while now) :).

Interworx does have a good thing going for them but my preference has always been DA (It has never crashed on me to date) so I simply refuse to acknowledge Interworx. Plus I do not like having to have a control panel have dependencies and with DA I can install whatever I want without having DA require me to install that certain mysql version or php version.

BUT I must admit they are indeed looking more and more promising. I definitely dig the graphs . I can't really comment on Version 3.0 yet as it is still RC1 and there are bugs as expected but it is looking promising thus far.

Lucky for me Im new to hosting and never was tied to an CP before Iworx. I had used Cpanel as a shared hosting client and wasn't impressed.

Im confused on this comment? Iworx doesn't force you to have any special version of PHP/MySQL b/c it installs its own when you install it. This is actually one of the best parts of Iworx you can do a lot of stuff from command line without breaking anything.

I think Iworx biggest weakness now is that they are a young company in terms of CP business. Just like you said they are adding features other panels have had for a while.

Yeah, there is like 15 options for "pre made" htaccess stuff.

Hmmm maybe this was something that I did not get about InterWorx but to me it seems that they include their own Apache, mySQL, etc. This is in order to be able to add all those cp visual goodies, like the graphs and the extra controls. I guess to me I prefer having the control panel and the services totally seperate of each other (and totally compatible). I can only say here in the office I have personally seen less DA support tickets compared to IWorx although there really are not a lot of IWorx tickets either. CPanel however is an entirely different story :).

A good quick read if it is slow at the office :):

Not too many differences really aside from features and resource usage.

Doesn't it consume a lot more resources if it bundles it's own Apache,PHP and MySql versions ? I mean , where has the good practice of sharing code between apps gone to? :P
(Or will there be separate servers just for handling CPs ?).

I guess to me I prefer having the control panel and the services totally seperate of each other (and totally compatible).Iworx has its own instance of PHP and MySQL than the one for the websites. So you can upgrade and install whatever PHP/MySQL for the website you wish to.

CPanel however is an entirely different story :).At least we agree on something :)

Also, Im really glad SF supports Iworx because that was one of the selling points for me moving from another host that supported Iworx but was pretty... um.. lets just say not good. SF has been great for me and with Iworx support its a win win.

It does but it also depends on what it is running of course. Here here :D.

Interworx is much easier to use as you find what you want and faster. Aka, a much better interface as an end-user. Though Siteworx lacks quite a lot of bells n' whistles in version 2.1.x, but that's another story :P

As you mentioned cPanel; Now that is a control panel gone bezerk when it comes to "functionality vs security":D
