The primary issue that occurred though was that this brought down our shared hosting VLAN, which contained the DNS resolvers used by most dedicated servers/colocation accounts. In addition, any customers directly connected to the switch would have been affected, and would have experienced downtime as we needed to run cables to different switches, etc.
All issues should be resolved at this point, or we are in direct communication with you currently to resolve such issues. If you are still experiencing issues and do not have an open ticket with us, please submit a ticket immediately or email.
We apologize for the issue, but the complete failure of a switch is basically an unavoidable situation. If you are a collocation customer, we highly recommend you contact us to establish redundant links with us, in case of a future issues. We have also made adjustments, putting the two resolvers in separate locations, so that both will not be affected by the same issue again.
