We have been active in our response, we have been offering various DDoS services from the beginning and do regular monitoring of our network, both inbound and outbound. We've been offering DDoS detection services for years now, it is simply that mitigation services have been cost prohibitive. Even then, the DDoS protection mechanism had been planned and in the works for many months now, the agreements had been finalized in December and we have simply been doing planning and testing since then, the timing is simply a coincidence.

As far as DNS Amplification attacks, that is something we note and have been addressing with our fully managed customers from the beginning as well, this move is simply indicating we are contacting our basic management customers as well, where this level of service is generally not provided pro-actively, as that is one of the major distinctions between basic and fully managed services (the pro-active nature).

I am glad to see that stedfast is just like every other hosting provider out there. Instead of being proactive they respond after the fact. Why not be proactive and take these measures in the first place so stedfast won't become another Spamhaus? Every device that has an IP is susceptible to (d)dos attacks so therefore why not proactive in the first place instead of making a bunch of big changes after something happens, and then have to inconvenience customers?

Be apart of the solution not the cause.
